Places on Texel
De Koog
There is always something going on in De Koog, which is why most tourists come here in summer ‘. Only a row of dunes separates the village from the beach and sea and this makes De Koog a paradise for beach lovers.
Den Burg
Den Burg is the largest village on Texel and has about 7070 inhabitants, which is about half of the total number of inhabitants of Texel. Here you will find a wide range of shops (small, local shops, but also large chains such as Gamma, Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Aldi and HEMA). Texel's only secondary school is located in Den Burg.
De Cocksdorp
De Cocksdorp is also the youngest village on Texel. There used to be little to do here, but nowadays there is plenty to do in the beautiful surroundings! And the symbol of Texel is here: the lighthouse!
Oudeschild
Oudeschild is an important village for Texel, and it always has been. At the beginning of the 17th century, many VOC ships came to the Reede van Texel to get drinking water from the wells (the Wezenputten) of Brakestein. The departure from Reede marked the beginning of many voyages of discovery, war and trade.
Den Hoorn
You can already see Den Hoorn from Den Helder. The most photographed object of Texel is here: the white, famous reformed church. Surrounded in spring with beautiful flower bulb fields.
Oosterend
According to many, Oosterend is the most beautiful village on Texel, with the beautiful large church in the center. Around it you will find small streets and alleys with beautiful, authentic houses. You will also find a number of cafes, restaurants and shops. The village is known for having a very close-knit community.
De Waal
Centrally located on Texel is De Waal, the smallest village on the island. The village has only a few narrow streets with nice old houses and farms. This determines the street scene of the pleasant village. It is a bit back in time, which is why the picturesque De Waal is definitely worth a visit!
