De Koog
De Koog is the second largest village on Texel. It is located against the De Duinen van Texel National Park, only two rows of dunes away from the North Sea. The village is the most touristic town on the island.
Schipbreuk- and Juttersmuseum Flora and Ecomare
From De Koog you can visit several nice museums, such as Shipwreck and Beachcombing Museum Flora or Ecomare. At Ecomare you will learn more about the Wadden Sea World Heritage, the North Sea and nature on Texel. You can take a closer look at the animals that live here! TIP: buying tickets in advance pays a discount. At Flora you will find a wide variety of beach finds from more than 75 years! Experience the world of beachcombing, pilotage and rescue and fishing.
De Jan Plezier
De Koog is a good base not only for beach lovers, but also for nature lovers. From De Koog you can walk to the De Nederlanden or De Muy nature reserve. Would you like to discover nature in a different way? Jan Plezier leaves twice a day at the Nikadel bus stop (next to the Lidl). During this covered wagon ride, the coachman tells you everything you encounter along the way. Halfway through you will get coffee and tea with a treat, and after about 3 hours you will be dropped off at the bus stop again.
Shopping souvenirs
Always nice to bring a souvenir for the home front. You have come to the right place in De Koog. And in De Koog it is shopping Sunday every Sunday! All year round. ‘ In summer there are many markets and there is a street fair every Tuesday.
Oranjerie 't Vogelhuis
Because De Koog is so popular with tourists, the range in restaurants has also been adapted to this. What we think is a very nice restaurant is Oranjerie ‘ t Vogelhuis. You will find this in the beginning of the Dorpsstraat and everything on the menu is tasty! Bries20 (post 20) and Beachclub Texel (post 19.5) are also nice places where you can enjoy the beach of De Koog.

Our apartments are in a very unique location: on the dune edge of De Koog. A breathtakingly beautiful place in the middle of the Dunes of Texel National Park. From the highest dune on Texel you have a view over the farmlands, the North Sea and the seaside resort of De Koog.
Beaches
At De Koog you will find most beach bars: pole 17, pole 19, pole 19.5, pole 20 and pole 21 have a nice beach pavilion where you can enjoy lunch and dinner, or a nice drink. These beaches are monitored in high season. Note: your dog must be kept on a leash.

Tips for real Texel lovers
Stay in De Koog
Spending the night in De Koog Texel and the surrounding area is no problem. In and around the village, the apartment complexes, luxury holiday bungalows, campsites and cozy holiday homes join forces. A Texel holiday De Koog means fun for people and animals. Not only is there a lot to do on the beach, in the woods and the seaside resort of De Koog, our accommodations are also designed to ensure that every individual gets their money's worth. For example, there are spacious lawns around the family villas that are spacious enough to play a ball game with the children or a frolic with the dog. At some of our holiday bungalows there is even a playground in the garden and you have access to several terraces.
Parking and public transport
Paid parking is available everywhere in De Koog and at the beach strokes. Your car is of course free at your accommodation. If you want to use public transport, you have two options. Connexxion line 28 runs on the ferry port route ’ t Horntje, Den Burg to the center of De Koog. The second transport service is Texelhopper. With more than 130 boarding places, the small buses arrive in all villages and drive past all the sights of Texel. If you specify this at least an hour in advance, you can also reserve the service on time and place.
Nature near De Koog
Although De Koog is a holiday village, where you will find a lot of entertainment, you are not deprived of nature. On the contrary, the Juliana apartment complex is located in the middle of the dunes and only 150 m from the village center. Although the bungalows on the Orchismient are located in a bungalow district, it is completely embedded in the National Park De Duinen van Texel. You can walk straight into the forest from your bungalow. To get a good idea of the work of nature, there is a 14.5 km walking route Duinen van Texel around De Koog, which can be downloaded on routeyou.
Walking cycling
De Koog is a great base for beautiful bike rides and walks. The village is almost centrally located on the island and is surrounded by the forests of the De Duinen van Texel National Park. In the protected nature reserve there is a whole network of short and longer walking routes, cycle paths and mountain bike trails. In the Seeting hiking area, the section between De Koog and Ecomare, the hiking trails are also suitable for mobility scooters and wheelchairs. To introduce the visitor to the hidden spots of Texel, Staatsbosbeheer regularly organizes interesting excursions. Not only for valid people, but also for people with disabilities. Ask at the reception of Ecomare.
Sightseeing
Ecomare, lighthouse Eierland, the Oudheidkamer, ’ t Walvisvaarderhuisje and Fort Oudeschild are the most famous sights of our largest Wadden Island. Also worth a visit: the Texel Zoo, with its spectacular raptor show and special butterfly garden, Cape Skil, the beachcombing museum Flora and the War and Aviation Museum at Texel airport. Depending on the season you visit the island, the bird watching places are also in the month of May, the Regatta of Texel, in the month of June, mushroom walks with the ranger in October and cuddling lambs in the winter / spring is a good reason to spend the night in Texel De Koog.
