Public transport and parking
Public transport is well organised on Texel. A regular Connexxion line runs between ferry port 't Horntje and De Koog. It passes Den Burg and calls at Ecomare. In addition, the island has the Texelhopper. A van service, with more than 130 stops. You book it by time and place and pay with your ov card. If you say, "It's not so busy during a Texel midweek break, we'll take the car," bear in mind that there are parking meters in the villages and at beach resorts. Naturally, parking is free at our accommodations.
Nature
Nature on Texel is known as one of the most unique in the Netherlands. You will find everything you can find elsewhere in our country. And that on an area of only 24 x 9 km. Some 400 different animal species live here, excluding insects, and the island is home to the oldest spoonbill colony in our country. Apart from some very vulnerable areas, all nature reserves are freely accessible during the Texel midweek break. Walking and cycling

Sights
During the week, the island is not nearly as busy as during the weekends. For instance from (off) Eierland lighthouse, at the tip of Texel, near De Cocksdorp or from the sea mammals in Ecomare. In spring, the bulb fields around Den Hoorn adorn themselves in beautiful colours and in Oudeschild, the arrival of the fishing fleet on Fridays always provides beautiful pictures. Unique in the Netherlands is also tidal area De Slufter. Here you can still feel at one with nature and enjoy beautiful sunsets.
