The area around De Koog is wedged between the National Park De Duinen van Texel and the nature reserves Zuid-Eierland and Waalenburg. From the heart of Amsterdam, you can reach your destination in less than two hours.

Standard comfort and luxury
The level of luxury and comfort you will find in our holiday homes is not dependent on a few months' advance booking or an offer for your last-minute holiday Texel. As standard, all our holiday homes are equipped with a high level of comfort and luxury. In all our accommodations, you will find extremely comfortable single box-spring beds, colourful and carefully composed unique interiors, modern kitchens equipped with all modern appliances, audio and satellite TV and free WiFi. Depending on the accommodation, you may be lucky enough to find a wellness facility, charging point or enclosed garden during your weekend on Texel.

Family holidays with dog
Sometimes it is the little things that give life extra colour. Like, for example, a last minute holiday to Texel, where you are lucky enough to have playground equipment in the garden for the children and you can bring the dog(s) along. Public transport and parking
Public transport to and on Texel is well organised. Trains run as far as Den Helder and from there you get on the bus to the boat. After the boat on the island, you can choose between a Connexion regular service and Texelhopper. Connexion runs, across Den Burg, to the centre of De Koog. If your destination is elsewhere on the island, it is better to take the Texelhopper. The hopper buses can also be booked by time and place. If you prefer to take your car with you during your last minute holiday to Texel, bear in mind that parking fees are charged everywhere.

Nature
Enjoy a few days in nature. Texel is an ideal holiday destination. With only two hours travelling time, from the heart of Amsterdam, it is perfect for a last minute weekend Texel. You can walk for hours on good walking paths in the De Duinen van Texel National Park. If you don't mind a bit of blubber or a grassy path, we can warmly recommend the Bollekamer, the Muy, the Slufter or a mudflat walk. And if you book a walking excursion with a guide or forester, you are sure to come across places and see things you would never have noticed otherwise.

Hiking and biking
A last-minute weekend to Texel is an ideal opportunity to get out and about on foot or by bike. On the island there is a network of 140 km of cycle paths and something like 200 km of walking paths. Routes are well signposted on the junction network itself. There is also a Texelmap app. You can also obtain paper cycling and walking routes from cycle hire companies and the VVV tourist office. To Texel by bike? In Den Helder, board the boat via the special bicycle counter in the terminal. For €5, you already have a return ticket. A manned counter and ticket machine are available.

Sights
Especially when you book a Texel last minute, it's nice to know in advance some places of interest. Highly recommended is Eierland lighthouse, on the northern point, near De Cocksdorp. From here, you have a view over three seas and, on a clear day, even as far as Leeuwarden. Between De Koog and Den Hoorn is the nature museum Ecomare, with its marine mammal sanctuary. Always fun and educational to do. The Texel ZOO regularly puts on shows of birds of prey and in the Tessel brewery you can see and taste how a 'skuumkoppe' is made. If you are looking for more of a nature adventure, take a trip on foot or by boat across the Wadden Sea.
